Their opposition is driven not by concerns for public health or economic sustainability, but by the desire to preserve the financial interests of those who benefit from the privatized system.

Nothing will truly change in the U.S. healthcare system until we get money out of politics. The deep entanglement of corporate money and political power ensures that meaningful reform, like universal healthcare, remains out of reach. Wealthy stakeholders in the healthcare industry—insurance companies, pharmaceutical giants, and hospital corporations—funnel millions of dollars into lobbying and campaign contributions to maintain the status quo. As long as politicians are financially dependent on these industries, they are incentivized to protect their interests, even if it means prioritizing profits over people’s health.

This financial influence distorts policy decisions and prevents progress toward a more equitable, affordable healthcare system. Without removing the influence of money from politics, any attempt to reform healthcare will be met with fierce resistance from those who profit from the current model. The system will continue to serve corporate interests at the expense of public well-being, and the American people will continue to pay the price. Only by addressing the root issue—corporate money driving political decisions—can we hope to achieve real, transformative healthcare reform.
